The first version of the 2 series changed how the system is extended. A plugin became a package with its own data, which the system recognises and installs without changes to the core.
What landed
- Dynamic detection: the system finds the plugin's data files, with no fixed list in the core.
- Origin tracking: records created by a plugin carry its identifier. The release note states the goal: to allow, in the future, a clean uninstall.
- Development templates: standard version, commit and release scripts that work in any plugin repository.
- Text identifiers: references to modules stopped being numeric.
What changed for existing users
It was a breaking release: the move to text identifiers and the new plugin structure required older plugins to be adapted.
Three days later, 2.0.21 unified the log records of plugin database operations and fixed conflicts when installing from the web.
