Version 1.8.0 replaced the base of the installation. Instead of a single SQL file, the database is now created and evolved through migrations.
What landed
- Migrations with Phinx: every change to the database structure is a versioned file, applied in order.
- Seeders: the initial data comes in through the same mechanism.
- Per-environment configuration: credentials and options leave the code and go to
.env. - Automatic installer: the installer runs the migrations and seeders and leaves the installation ready.
In the following weeks
Versions 1.8.4 and 1.8.5 brought automatic detection of the site's root address, recovery of interrupted installations and preservation of logs during installation.
The installer is still distributed as its own package, with a version independent from the system's.
