Developers can deliver a project to an installation on another host without pretending its directory is a local folder. The project configuration declares the host, account and destination directory; the pipeline uses those settings for file transfer and database execution.
Files and ownership
Rsync transfers the files, while SSH runs the commands. Relative destinations and the server root are rejected. When elevated permissions are needed, synchronization restores ownership so the installation can read its files.
A session for the right host
The test-cookie command can also reach the installation over SSH. Its bootstrap honors the requested hostname so that the generated session matches the cookie name expected by the web runtime.
Delivery status
File transfer, database updates and session generation were checked in a test environment. At this point, CSS rebuilding and asset publishing still had limitations on remote hosts; later transport fixes extended that support.
