Pages get their own SEO and sharing metadata

Each page can set the title, description and image shown when its link is shared, from the panel or from the editing bar.

When a link is shared, the person receiving it sees a card with a title, a description and an image. Before, that card was the same for the whole site. Now each page defines its own.

What each page gained

  • Sharing title: when empty, the page name is used.
  • Sharing description: when empty, the site description is used.
  • Featured image: picked in the file manager.

If the page already declares its own tags in the head, the system respects them and does not duplicate.

Where to edit

  • In the page and publication editor, on a new tab, "SEO and Sharing".
  • In the editing bar of the published page, through a settings button, without going to the panel.

Sitemap

The sitemap.xml is now served by the system itself, without depending on a web server rule, and is updated when a page is created, edited, unpublished or deleted. Routes that are not content, such as social login callbacks and intermediate screens, are left out.

The system tells search engines and networks what the page is. A position in search results is not something it promises.
